Some are homophobic entirely because of prejudice and bigotry but those who follow the Abramic religions quote the bible in support.

The relevant passage is in Leviticus which says that when a man lieth with a man as with a woman it is an abomination…

But there is nothing about female homosexuals. Nothing which says that when a woman lieth with a woman as with a man it is an abomination…

So is female homosexuality OK then? Are those boarding-house owners who want to be above the law by banning homosexual men from sharing a room happy to allow two lesbians to do so?

If not, why not, to be consistent? If so, why, since the bible doesn’t forbid it?

The wisdom of ABers required here, I think.

Since the Abramic religions all enjoyed polygamy at the time, I always assumed that God intended for the man to get it on with as many as his wives as he wished at once, so lezzing it up is okay.lol
Possibly like queen Vic, reputed to have denied it existed.
Romans 1 ; 1:26
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

That seems to be the sole specific reference.

Well spotted, jack. Of course that was only Paul on one of his usual rants rather than an instruction to Jews from God, as Leviticus is supposed to be throughout.
Look, it's all stories to control and manipulate the masses. And it's still going on!!!

Yes, Zacs-Master, I agree with you. What I want to know is whether those who have these nasty views about male homosexuality have the same views about it with regard to the opposite sex.

It's a simple enough question. I wonder whether I'll hear from any of them.
Since the bible in its current form was written by men, I imagine the attitude to male homosxuality is a result of some of the authors feeling 'threatened' by male homosexuality. I doubt that they would feel the same way about lesbians.
in those days, it was important to keep tribal numbers up, especially when you were busying laying waste to other tribes all the time. Those who spilled their seed in the wrong places were not failing in their duty. Lesbians, by contrast, weren't wasting any of their human resources.

Thanks for the analysis of the origins of this, of which I'm well aware. I still want to know whether homophobes today include female homosexuality in their condemnation - and why or why not.
// for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: //

I think this just means they stopped doing the washing up and hoovering.
^^Have a custard pie! Sperlatt!! :o)
I don't think lesbians are given the same regard. I can tell that MrAsk is uncomfortable when in the company of male homosexuals, although he wouldn't say anything, but with lesbians he has no problem. It doesn't bother me either way. Considering that men have the wherewithal to make love as the dominant sex, normally to procreate, it is looked upon as unmanly. Women have a less forceful role imo, and unless one wears the bib and braces when booking in at an hotel who is to know that the are just friends.
When we went on holiday together my sister and I shared the same room. Separate beds of course. But who was to know we were sisters, unless I took the trouble to tell them?
