"the pip" and "lues" can both refer to an unspecified illness, according to OED.

Hain is Scottish fo 'save'. Not sure of the wordplay though.

Pip is a slang word for syphylis i.e. the pox. Lues is another word for syphilis. You did ask :)
Hain is Scottish for save (Chambers dictionary). Not sure how large buildings comes into it. You are right with lues. Lues in the Chambers means syphilis and also a definition of pip is also syphilis (slang).
to clarify, Ha' is a Scottish version of Hall, hence large Scottsh building
