An Afghan policeman suspected of shooting dead three British soldiers has been named by an Afghan police commander as Ziarahman. A second Afghan policeman is believed to be in custody in connection with the shootings.

Ziarahman had been a member of the Afghan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP) for nine months. ANCOP is an elite branch of the regular Afghan police who are supposed to step in to prevent terrorist attacks, and who undergo STRICT VETTING.

Something went wrong then.

Still only ''suspected.'' Hopefully they'll be suitably treated if convicted. A wooden overcoat would be appropriate.

I don't know if there's a death penalty in Afghanistan. If there's not he'll be at liberty in a year or so once the western forces have left.
Didn't the last Afghan who carried out a similar murder escape from custody. With friends in the Taliban he may get his freedom far to quickly.

There is a token law establishment in Afghanistan. Actually primitive and inhumane. For instance, prisoners receive no food. Normally, this was the responsibility of the prisoners' relatives, who were allowed to visit to provide food once or twice a week. Those who had no relatives had to petition the local council or rely on other inmates.

A totally sadistic and idiotic race. I really do not know why we are trying to help them. They are far below savage animals in the order of respectfulness and responsibility.
not heard about this as ive not had tv on all day.... but i tend to agree with sandy about him being free if he does get punished....

seems to be common people committing atrocities and getting away scot free.... didnt the american who killed and burned the innocent afghan people get just 3 months or something? sorry if im wrong there but thats the length of time that sprang to mind.... and in my mind it was a terrorist attack

Robert Bales, the US Army soldier, was charged by the U.S. government with 17 counts of murder, six counts of attempted murder, and six counts of assault against Afghanistan civilians. He is in custody at Fort Leavenworth, awaiting trial.

Well if the namby pambies don't intervene and he is tried by an Afghan court, he will face a firing squad, which he justly deserves.
thanks sir prize... i could have sworn i was in a big thread on here and he got 3 months.... i must be mixing him up with someone else..... i know there was a big hoo haa about an american that had done something terrible and got a stupid small sentence as they said it was mental health problems..... there were others involved too and i believe they got off lightly

sorry

just out of curiousity aog do you believe the american guy sir prize corrected me on deserves the death sentence too?
"I really do not know why we are trying to help them."

Shouldn't that be "I really don't know why we invaded their country"?
pdust

there have been several murders by us troops.

sirprize has correctly identified the most recent

the case i think you're referring to relates to a much earlier case where a us platoon whose officer had just been killed, stopped some random guys on a road, shot them whilst they were surrendered then went into neighbouring houses and shot a bunch more civilians.

Most of them got off scot-free, the offiver or nco in command did get a few months.

There'll be a link somewhere.
Just to build on sirprize's point -

according to British military reports, many of these 'green on blue' attacks aren't even politically (ie taliban) motivated.

they are often just an afghan with a personal grievance.
thanks zeuhl that could be it... i get mixed up fairly easily and see so much online that isnt in our news i forget where i see things....

well said rojash
Just wait a little bit more. We are winning this war. At least our best allies believe so.
We should only give them "live" ammunition just before we get out of there. The ANCOP I mean.
''A totally sadistic and idiotic race. I really do not know why we are trying to help them. They are far below savage animals in the order of respectfulness and responsibility. ''
Can I just ask you how many Afghani's you know personally Sir Prize to make such an 'informed' and sweeping statement?

NOX - if the following is an example of their consideration for fellow humans in their own country, perhaps I am relieved that I do not know any personally. Maybe you think otherwise, NOX.
