Can anyone tell me if it's o.k. to have more than one digital camera installed on my computer at the same time? I have been using my Dad's camera, which I've installed, but he wants to take it on holiday with him, so I have borrowed another, quite different camera. I don't want to have to un-instal Dad's, as I will be using it again regularly once he comes back. Is it o.k. to instal the borrowed camera as well? Sorry if I sound a bit daft, but I don't understand all this modern, new-fangled technology. Thanks in anticipation.

..one doesn't really have to have a camera "installed" on the PC.....our familly have a total of five cameras and we have a card reader which accepts all the cards, which we then print from either the printer software or Photoshop or just look at them with Microsoft Windows picture viewer.......having said that there is no reason why you can't have more than one camera's software installed.......commoner.
Don't bother installing camera software unless you actually find it useful (which it probably isn't). If you connect via USB the camera should show up as as an external drive which you can treat as any other drive. You may need to install drivers if you are particularly unlucky.

Hi Jenny, When you install driver software for a camera, what you are actually doing is just installing a program which recognises the camera when you connect it. It might also install stuff for handling pictures etc... but that is extra and not required just to download the pictures to the PC. You can install as many different driver's for camera's as you want, when you connect any camera only the correct program for that particular camera will run.
