I am getting a 'full' notification in my inbox and now have emails waiting to come into it, and the notice tells me to delete some files but when I try nothing happens, what is the procedure?

Think you need to give more information here..

Outlook will not get full (well not until you get upto a stupid and unrealistic amount of emails)

If you are on an imap based account the your account is full on the server and you'll need to archive off some of your emails or delete some.... If you are on a exchange based account then you have mailbox restrictions in place and you are also on a company mail system and you should be asking your IT department.
Dragging e-mails into the 'Deleted Items' files is a good start, or you can right click on one or a selected block, and choose 'delete'. But afterwards you need to empty the 'Deleted Items' folder; either by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Deleted Items Folder", or by going into it and deleting the e-mails again from there. If you don't empty the 'Deleted Items' folder then the e-mails are still in your e-mail data file taking up space.

(Alternatively you may find an 'archive' option in one of the menus somewhere.)

thanks to you both. I have deleted the files in the 'deleted items' folder and then deleted all inbox files. IT WORKED! These are all emails (270mb) on my lap top but are backed up on my PC so I am not concerned about deleting them I am trying to speed up my laptop by having a clear out.

Thanks again
