Can someone please tell me what these are and why they are so critical?

Every weekend there are posters wanting 'spare' numbers and then whinging that they have been 'stolen'. Those that want them then start posting throw away email adresses for them to be sent privately so that the ne'er do wells can't steal them.

The reasons for not having numbers are many and varied.

What's it all about???

Was just about to ask the same question, seems to be a bit of a hot topic.
They convert to points which you save up and exchange for prizes.
This weekend there is a prize draw to win 250 prizes of £1000.
Each Saturday and Sunday numbers are printed in the Mail, you open an account, log on, put the numbers in which are then converted into points which you save and exchange for items. I am currently saving for a bread maker, but you can get all sorts, including £5 vouchers for high street shops, dvd's etc.
But where does the stolen bit come in, are the numbers unique ie can only be used once by one person?

Thanks Baldric & Traci.

So a Mail Reward is just a credit to your account?
Do they have a half-life?
Are this weekends more valuable than last weeks?
Will the earth stop spinning if you don't credit your rewards account this week?

I can't understand the desperate measures that some seem to go to....
Yes they are
Eccles, sorry crossed in the ether, this weeks will be more sought after because of the prize draw.
Why can't these people buy their own newspapers to get the reward number?
It just seems like there are a lot of people wanting something for nothing to me.
some times I've bought my Dad the mail on sunday & he not read the mags,so I take 'em away,so can offer to others.
It doesn't bother me, I can't be arsed to use them myself so don't mind giving them away.
Hope you get your breadmaker traci66. I am beginning to think the whole thing is a con. I sent for a £10 voucher on 23rd May. It did not come - informed the Mail - they sent me another (so they say) and that has not come either. They also said that this was the last one they would send. My address is ok on the account so they have no excuse.
Anyone else have trouble with it?
I started off not bothering, craft1948 then OH wanted a CD they had on offer (which I got no bother) so I joined in and kept on. Will not bother in future.
