I'm thinking of buying a cottage as a renovation project, for eventual summer letting and possible retirement.

I'd like it to be near some water, and reasonably cheap & easy to get there from Manchester.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Dent is seriously nice - but narrow roads make access tricky in the tourist season and prices are high.
Have a look over the pennines in the hills around Huddersfield. Lots of rivers and reservoirs and Millstone Grit cottages for flumpence ha'penny.
