Jeffrey Deaver and Lee Child.
Chrissa has just mentioned the two I was thinking of, Harlen Coben already mentioned too. I enjoy Reginald Hill - Dezeal? and Pascoe books they are entertaining, atm I'm reading The Godfather b Mario Puzo.
Reginald Hill is excellent, AYG, have you read the Joe Sixsmith series by him, quite humorous. Are you enjoying The Godfather? another great book.
I have just discovered Harlan Coben...purely by chance when a fellow browser in the charity shop pointed one out. Brilliant.

Also ..........try the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child I do believe the later Harlan Cobens are better, but they are all brilliantly written.
Don't forget James Patterson.
He is one of my faves.
James Lee Burke
Stephen Booth does for Derbyshire what Reginald Hill does for Yorkshire - worth a try. Sadly, no more Reginald Hills. Sob.
I absolutely love the Agatha Raisin books and have recommended them to a few friends/family who are also now hooked on them. I am also a big fan of Dick Francis despite not being a racing fan, his older ones are the best in my opinion and can often be picked up in charity shops
Camilla Lackberg books are brilliant. Start with The Ice Princess and if you like it there's another 7 to get your teeth into.
