Went to the supermarket today for fresh stuff. I wanted a tenderheart cabbage They were well cut about with no outside leaves. In my opinion cut off because they were yellowing. I asked the girl if there were any fresh ones. These are fresh she said, they are all we have. They are not fresh says I. If I half price them will you buy one says she. NO says I. I want fresh. Am I unreasonable?
If it was half price I would have bought it. Even if the outside leavess were gone the middle would have been all right and if you are cooking it there would be no difference. Can't be too fussy in these days, especially if the price is right.
Supermarket.....if they were beyond sell date, they would have been on
the reduced shelves along with other fresh produce, happens in most
supermarkets now.
Jeza - if only I was nearer I'd pop over with a fresh spring cabbage for you.
I grew them in the garden over the winter and they've been a great success. At the moment we're eating greens every day, but with these and the sproting brocolli we've still got plenty spare.
I personally wouldn't buy anything I didn't want but nor would I have a conversation like that with a girl who was obviously trying to be helpful. she clearly thought they were fresh, you argued the point so she offered to reduce them to half price. Since she didn't have any others for you, I don't really see that she oculd have been much more helpful.
