Not so local locals on EBay

Who else hates this ever increasing situation on EBay where you see something you want/need, tick the "UK only" filter box, only to find out that the paypal payment has gone to china or the like, delivery is suddenly going to take a "little" longer and yet they are advertising that they are in the UK?

I always check and see if the seller has a UK address listed. If they list a UK address then find that they are actually shipping from abroad, i would take it up with ebay and open a dispute.

I did that once when claiming through paypal for a laptop charger I bought. It claimed to be from the UK, stated clearly that it was a UK supplier, and the charger was supposed to be the genuine Toshiba one. It arrived after about two weeks, wasn't the one I ordered (much cheaper version), and PayPal sided with the seller. PayPal suck when it comes to fairness.

but what did ebay do? they are run separately. Amazed that the decision came down on the seller's side, the sellers on here often say that ebay is always biased in favour of the buyer.

Unfortunately I never thought about claiming through EBay, just paypal seeing as I made the payment through them, and thinking I would be safe. Thanks for the tip on that though..... I'll know for next time.

I always stress on my ebay ads that I will deliver to the UK only and yet I always receive queries asking whether I will sell overseas to buyers in Far Eastern countries. Maybe I'm mssing out on sales but I always say no

same reason that I do. the shipping is high, tracking is difficult if not impossible so the risk of having to refund for non delivery is higher, customs forms, all that stuff.
