Not sure if I have posted this in the right topic

I have just received an email to say that USPS have been unable to deliver a parcel - they have attached a label to take to the post office - I havent opened the attachment. The email says that I have 30 days to collect the parcel or they will charge me $6.77 per day

You're right I am not expecting a parcel - but what can they expect to gain from this scam - because it is a scam isn't it?

Maybe the attachment will be a virus.
There will eventually be a request for payment.

I guess the Post Office will say 'we know nothing' (because they don't) - then you ring/email the fraudsters who tot-up the $6.77s and ask you to pay so that the Post Office can 'release the parcel'.
Delete the email.
Just ignore it, put it spam mail.
delete - it's a scam - if you respond, they know your email address is live and can target it with other things. I've had that one or similar, several times before.
How would the real USPS know your e-mail address? (it stands for United States Post Office - I take it you are in the UK?)

Of course it's a scam.

Thank you - yes I am in the uk will delete it
Question Author
meant to say it is in spam already
It is a scam and my security tells me that the label attachment contains a virus ...... do not open it !
are you in the States?

If you aren't and you are not expecting a parcel, then it's a scam - USPS is not UPS, it is the US Postal Service......

thank you all
Just for future reference. I work in a Post Office and whilst we hold undelivered Royal Mail and Parcelforce items we would NEVER take in post from any other carrier. That includes UPS, Fedex etc etc

thank you spudqueen
yes i have had these too and i dont open them, the latest batch of emails seem to be cominng from amazon and although i dont read them it does say in the subject box about my consignment/order being cancelled and as i dont use amazon i just delete as spam so be careful all

I have been getting the Amazon 'cancellation' messages for the last few weeks. All get deleted immediately.
