My daughter has had a 'virus' for 3 weeks now, basically temp, no energy, not eating, sickness, coughing but now thankfully on the mend, however I seem to have picked up some of it.

I have a really hacking cough, I just get a tickle in the back of my throat and it drives me mad. Had temp and sore glands etc but doc says just virus, however today something else has started.

Every time I exhale there is a popping/crackling sound, and it driving me mad, even just sitting at rest, or in bed, I can hear it and it feels like I have some of that popping candy stuff in my chest/throat. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening, its driving me nuts!!!!

I'd go back to GP. Sounds like it's gone on to your chest and you should have antibiotics IMO.
No. not much at all that you can do it being a little inflammation of the bronchi.
It you feel well in yourself, then no antibiotics are needed.

got to the chemist, buy some Benylin and take a good "slug" at least a tablespoonful.....at least.

monitor the situation.

Is Benylin ok to take with most normal meds? Is it the phlegm thats prob causing the sound?
Yes.
Think myself and half the population of this country have suffered this since Christmas! Its a particularly nasty viral infection, unfortunately you just have to sit it out and be patient ! but be assured it DOES eventually go -took mine 10 weeks :( but I'm fine now :)
