I understand that BT have a speed test facility so that you can determine the speed between your home and the local exchange. There is a URL for this but I am unable to find it. The only ref I can find is what BT say I should be able to get. This is no good. I have BB but not from BT. I want to check the speed I am getting. Thank anybody.

Does what it says on the tin ;o)
Read your question again, properly this time, this gives you your current download and upload speed - not sure if this was what you were looking for.

Thanks CheekyChick.
Tried your URL which gives similar results to another Website. What I trying to do is determine the current actual speed between my house and the local exchange. My ISP say that they think local BT are playng about with the lines and suspect I am getting the raw end of the deal. I need to determine the actual speed to base a complaint on.
Thanks for all your help.

To CheekyChick.
Thanks again. Tried the second URL which tells you what you should be able to get speed wise as a max. Regret it doesn't give you the speed your actually getting on the current BB.
Many thanks again.

This is real thing. The one that BT and your ISP will instruct you to use if you have an issue. By inputting your details as you go on it the results are logged for your ISP to check on. Can be a little slow to take your details so be patient. if you're a Firefox use I'd use IE for this as it results in making my Firefox crash and a restart is always needed.
Just a thought - are you using wireless to connect or wired? If you try wiring your PC/laptop are you getting a faster connection speed - this can sometimes cause quite a difference, also if you're using a wireless connection is your wireless card configured to accept faster connection speeds? It goes into a bit more detail at the site I gave you above and some programs to download. Here's the link - http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/guides/ improve_wireless_internet_speed.aspx
BT should be shot - I can get a speed of 512Mbs if I'm lucky and they don't have to do anything to update the exchange.

Good luck Graham.
