AV on TV screen

I've recently had a 'TVonics' set top box installed in readiness for the digital switch over. After wading through a 30 page user guide, a 'Quick Start Guide' and a 'Remote Control' leaflet I've got the hang of it fairly well, but there's one thing that irritates me. Whenever viewing a digital channel, at the top left of the screen I see the letters AV, which I believe means audio-visual. Is there a way of getting rid of that or does everyone have AV on their screen? Thanks for any advice.

Nothing to do with the set top box, it's your TV showing you what channel it's set to (AV)

Look on the TV remote for a button with a little i on it, if you can't see one post the make of the TV (and model if possible)

Thanks Chuck, you've made a useful point. It's a small Panasonic TV used in a bedroom and is a good many years old - approximately cube shaped and measuring about 37cms each way. I cannot at the moment see a model number (it's too heavy to lift) but I'll do a bit more experimenting. I have two remote controls, the original one for analogue which can still be used for a few more weeks, and a new one for digital. The analogue remote will switch AV on an off but I haven't found how to do so with the digital remote, and don't see a button with a little i on it.
