My vet mentioned that Frankie could do with losing some weight (5.31kg) and we couldn't convince Princess Merlin to go on the scales (she isn't fat, she has thick fur). But I saw this article in the Daily Mail yesterday and realised that my two are tiny little cats.

I love the look on Maverick's face. :-)

Over fed and not enough exercise.

I don't think cats should be kept indoors. They're roamers..they chase birds and mice.
That is just gross beyond belief (and Mini Moo has shocking dandruff, to add to her problems!). What a shame people let their animals get into that state. I'm with ummmm - cats are meant to be outside.

My two are indoor cats as I live in the city centre. They are by no means fat but Frankie is on steroids and he gets the munchies.

They are actually racing around playing and trying to kill each other just now. They are only 6 and a half (29 June is their 7th birthday!) so they are pretty young little moggies.
Cats have more road sense than many adults.

I'm not convinced that playing in the house is enough exercise for a cat. I let mine out this morning, he came back for brekkie after the school run, then went straight back out again. I'd love to know where he goes....but it can't be far away because he knows the sound of my car and always appears when I pull up.
People who let their pets get this overweight are not my favourite type of people. It's a form of cruelty imo.
Good Lord at Fifi Bottomly! Think she ate her owner?
Snnopy fat cat who I use as an avatar sometimes.... weighed 11 kilos at his biggest and was just big and fluffy about the size of a large male maine coone (he was an MC cross) we tried to keep him nearer 9 but he was pretty slim at that weight and the vet assured us he wasn't fat
My cat is massive! He is big in general and has huge paws but he's also quite a fatty even though he eats less than the recomended amount. I'm not to concerned really. He regularly vaults the 6ft + fench in the garden and has his completely bonkers moments where he runs around frantically trying to catch air.
Shows how phoney many self-styled animal-lovers are.
I think the difference is the introduction of big breeds that have crossed into the moggy population ,means there are now some seriously big *** out there, the old estimates for correct weight ranges may need to be staged like dogs now with ranges for small, medium and large cats... And a new supersize for Indy when she grows up by the sound of it

BOO - that clip of poor Biffy and the tiny cat flat was funny. I am not sure what beating the carp out of the doormat was supposed to do though.

Neither of my two have a big build and neither is fat, but being fat myself I realise that it is easier to keep the weight off now than to wait until they get fat and then try and convince them to diet.

I think that the first cat in my original link is gorgeous and his little face shows that he understands that he is to be deprived of his food. :-)
