I do a rough calculation in my head as I shop and would know if something was really wrong and I am always right within a couple of pounds. I then check my receipt when I get home. Morrisons are good at giving refunds and have never questionned me, but there haven't been many mistakes over the years.

I couldn't be bothered to shop with a calculator and I don't have a mobile with me when I am shopping!!!

Us oldies don't need calculators anyway we were taught to do mental arithmetic!!!
In asda today the cashier told me clydesdale bank cards were playing up saying oayment declined but it was actually taking the money! Just to say watch out xx
Only once have I checked my receipt in a supermarket....and that was because I was in the cigarette queue. I noticed that a 'buy one get one free' offers hadn't been put through. Went to CS and she happily informed me it wasn't buy one get one free (heart sink moment) but it was buy one get two free :-)
Yes Lottie - I well remember the "times tables" and dreaded weekly mental arithmetic tests (got my knuckles wrapped on many an occasion by teacher's ruler for getting an answer wrong!) How times have changed - gone are the days of writing formulae etc on your hand before an exam - they can even take calculators in now!
I buy too much to add as I go along but I buy mostly the same stuff every week so I have a rough idea of how much it should be, what I always do is put all the BOGOF stuff and other offers together at the front of the trolly so I can immediately check that I have got the savings, I've had to go to the Customer Service on a disgraceful amount of times because discounts haven't been honoured. Don't get me started on shelf stacking and pricing, they seem to put up a special offer, then fill the shelf with a similar non offer product.
I always check, especially if Ive been to Morrisons. They make so many mistakes. Its annoying though that even though I notice straight away and query the cashier, I still have to go to the service desk to get my money back !!
Was warned once in a newspaper article to always check receipt before leaving the store. There was a scam where the cashier put through eg a £20 cashback which you hadn't asked for, then could pocket the £20 later. Not sure if this was just an urban myth, but always have a quick scan of my receipt before leaving a store.
