Q: Prove that the recurring decimal 0.25 = 25/99

Thanks to all, especially, Jonathan and factor. I was merely helping a 15 year old with her GSCE level homework. Having read all the answers I'm still non the wiser, but she is!
I have never been much good at mathematics. When my son gets to 15/16 I think I will struggle to help him.

Thanks guys. especially Jonathan and factor. I was merely trying to help a 15 year old with her homework. I wish I was better at mathematics. I have always struggled with it and only just manahed to scrape through my 16+ with a grade c 27 years ago. Doh!

I recall doing calculus and probabilities at 'O' level. Then some years later when I decide to become a mature student and go get a degree, Loughborough University had the damned cheek to reject me because my maths wouldn't be up to it, having taken no 'A' levels. I must have ended up at a better university as I had no problems where I went.
