Upgrading internet explorer

I am currently browsing with Internet explorer 7 and am thinking of upgrading to a later version.What I need to know is if I choose to do this will I lose my favourites? Also is windows vista,which I have,compatible with the later versions? Thanks in advance...

No you won't lose your favourites...

IE9 is the latest version you can have, though on a side note, if you are two versions behind on IE then it sounds like you haven't been doing updates on your computer (ie should have been upgraded as part of windows update)

I'd suggest running a windows update a couple of times to make sure your system is updated with...

As far as I know current is version 9. I believe this is not suitable for XP but works with everything else.
I'm using Internet Explorer 8 (always have done). I also have Vista Home Edition. If, by favourites, you mean the tab (marked Favorites) near the top left hand corner of the screen, which gives you the sites that you looked at over the last 3 weeks or so, then you'll still have it.

I believe I'm correct in saying that with IE9 the 'favourites' are not accessed by the tab on the top lefthand side.
They're not...

There is a star in the top right corner that brings up the favourites.
