We don't bother with Valentines Day but obviously lots of people do.

I must say carnations are probably my least favourite flowers and I'd be a bit gutted if anyone bought me some.

My favourites are calla lillies (my wedding flowers), sunflowers, gladioli, freesias and I like pussy willow.

Do you like carnations? What are your favourite flowers?

Sorry if another flower thread has been done.

Someone mentioned Columbines (Aqualegie, Grannie's Bonnets) I love them and they are in profusion like weeds all over my garden. I also love Nigella and cornflowers.
I like carnations and pinks. They smell nice too. More importantly, they`re the only flowers in my garden that I haven`t managed to kill.
Heard this one tonight in my local Cornish hostelry, Lottie....(on the V-D verse Cornish thread too)

"Roses are Red,
Violets are Blue
The flowers are so expensive
Stolen daffodils for you"
I liked carnations until somehow or other they bred the lovely perfume out of them. Why do the flower growers do that? IMO flowers should smell nice as well as looking beautiful.
Stolen daffodils are just my thing DT!! My garden is full of daffodils in the Spring. Uplifting flowers. Don't like multipetal flowers at all - not natural or wildlife friendly. And as for Dahlias - yuk!!!
