We were just talking at work about the kinds of foods we had to eat as kids that we wouldnt touch now. I remember my mum, when doing bangers and mash, she would pour the fat from the sausages over the mash for flavour. It was yummy, but when I think about it now, yuk !! I bet some of you out there would still like that kind of thing, but is there anything you wouldnt like to have now and were probably made to have or go without dinner ?

Saying all that, my mother will be 93 this year. So, eating all that lard & rendering food to pulp doesn't seem to have done her any harm.

She now doesn't cook for her self as she's not too good on her feet. She now eats those frozen cooked dinners...They were a real treat when I was a kid..

When I was young I thought strawberries came out of a tin. It wasn't until I came to London in the sixties that I had my first fresh strawberry! I don't know why my Nan only gave us canned ones - with evaporated milk!
Having just spotted a school friend on Facebook it reminded me of when I went to her house for tea after school.

I was asked if I wanted 1 or 2 mushrooms! It simply didn't compute, I had never been aware of a quantified amount of 'shrooms, unless they were big field ones. I ended up saying one because I didn't want to seem greedy :-(
No wrecky, it was cold with the jelly in it (yuk hated the jelly), either beef or lamb whichever we had had for dinner.
