Am I not so lucky? I can watch the American Super Bowl tonight! How about being able to watch some British Sport?

Match of the Day 2 is on.
I don't want the BBC to pay stupid money to broadcast sport, thanks.
Plenty of sites on the internet Daisy. What sports do you want to watch that isn't on TV
Did you not watch the Rugby earlier Daisy?

Nox.Yes I watched Wales win!
The UK broadcasting rights for the Superbowl probably come cheap. The subscription satellite channels will have spent most of their budgets on Premier League football and other major events, such as Test Match cricket. That leaves 'minority' sports available cheaply for whoever wants to broadcast them.

An analogy:
If you ask people how their local council(s) can improve their services, you'll be flooded with demands for more police on the beat, more local fire stations, longer library opening hours, etc, etc. But if you then ask people what should be cut to fund those services (or whether they'd be prepared to pay far more in Council Tax) they're usually not so quick to speak out.

Similarly, if you ask people what the BBC should be doing they'll want fewer repeats, more costume drama, the retention of local radio services, better coverage of UK sport, etc, etc. Yet when you ask what should be cut to provide all of those things (or whether they'd be prepared to pay a far higher licence fee) they suddenly go quiet.

Chris
PS:
With the way things are going in Dubai, are you sure that you really want to watch more British sport anyway?
What could be cut Chris are the multi-million pound salaries for presenters and so called celebrities.
Having been on holiday to many foreign parts and seen their TV. I said I would never complain about the licence fee again. I will complain about some of the programmes though. Mainly about the jaunts given to the so called celebs. Jobs for the boys and girls.
What British Sport do you suggest they show?

It"s the Superbowl..it is a huge event...some British people have embraced the Sport..whynot try to give it a look...instead of griping, because you think you"ll encourage other blinkered gripers...and,well ,you perceive it to be an easy target....talk about Victor Meldrew....groan!
