It depends on what sleep pattern you are trying to sort out.
If your Doctor gave you Temazepam and assuming you are not being trated for something else like depression you need to explain if you are waking early like 2 am or not getting to sleep before about 4 am or not sleeping at all.
I found 375mg of Zopiclon was helpful but it is a short term thing and if you are undergoing outside events which will sort themselves out.
Best of luck from fellow insomniac

Thanks tellboy
it depends what you mean by stronger. Temazepam is quite good for getting you to sleep, but not good for keeping you asleep, , or helping if you wake up and want to get to sleep again - other tablets (for example zopiclone) work differently
Some people find Nytol, which can be obtained from Health stores, very beneficial. Have never really tried sleeping pills, even though I have sleepless nights as I've always been concerned about them becoming an adictive habit. Assume you've tried all the other "natural" remedies like gentle exercise before going to bed, a warm drink, warm bath, soothing music, etc?

I was prescribed Temazapam 20ml by my GP for insomnia, but was told I could double up to two a night if necessary. I still woke up in the night whether I took one or two, so I threw them all in the bin. I went back to drinking a mug of strong Horlicks before bed (but with hot water & cold milk - can't stand hot milk), lavender oil on my pillow & my story tapes.

I still wake up in the night, but I did with sleeping tablets & I'd rather be drug free if I can get away with it.

Good luck from another restless sleeper!

*I meant 20mg of course - not 20ml.
Hope that helped suzie - as you can see I'm having one of those nights - but I'm off to bed now! Nitey, nite, sleep tight!

Thans Smudge as you said i think its time to get off the tablets I know its going to be hard but as you said don't keep us asleep so I'll stick with tht Horlicks, lavender oil and listen to the tapes. Did get a few good hours last night down to 5 pints of lager and 2 tablets but thats not the wat to go but did enjoy at the time lol
I was prescribed the anti-anxiety pill Promazine for sleeplessness, though now I take it for its anti-psychotic qualities. I found that 50-100mg a night was enough to knock me out, though I did have a dry mouth in the morning. I was prescribed this by a psychiatrist though, not a GP who may be a bit hesitant to prescribe (it as it is heavy duty for just sleeplessness and the GP may not have much psychiatric experience).
