I've volunteering for a few posts working with vulnerable people, one organization has already submitted one for me. If this checks out ok (I've no doubt it will)will I get some kind of certificate that I can show to others who request it, or will I need to submit a disclosure for each post?

I think you'll need one for each organisation, but i found that once you have one CRB certificate subsequent ones are processed pretty quickly.
I have four concurrent CRB certs through different bodies
You get a copy of the disclosure that is also sent to the organisation applying for the CRB.
One of the early things the coalition Government promised to do was get rid of when it came to power was remove the need for duplicate applications for the same person each employing organisation.
Six months ago, it hadn't happened (so each employer still needs to apply). Unless it has been changed recently.

I had a feeling that was the case, seems unnecessary for multiple checks but if that's the case then so be it. Thanks for the replies.
You will be issued with a certificate. However it may not cover all posts you want to work in.
For example if you wished to coach young cricketers,or take up another post, within cricket, you would have to have a certificate issued by the ECB(English Cricket Board).
Sorry,for issued read required.
