Victoria Coren has written her last ever Guardian Poker column ... !!

I can't believe it.

After six years ... no more Vicky on a Wednesday morning.

Even though I'm not brave enough to join in the Poker at the Grosvenor, I still love Vicky's Poker column. From where we sit at the Blackjack tables, the poker area is over on our left, and you can see the tables from the corner of your eye. One day, Red ... one day. I'm gonna get up and mosey on over, and sit myself down with the real gamblers. But maybe not this week. In fact, without the encouragement of Victoria Coren ... maybe never!!

I refuse to play as I think it could become addictive......I have started commercial training courses by giving participants stacks of counters after dinner along with the cards to play to there is a winner takes all - and then first exercise in the morning is "what did you learn?"

I have enough sins without adding an addiction to poker to the pile.

Love playing bridge though - few pennies a point.

DTC ... I'm strictly "set limit" when I go gambling.

If I lose my set limit ... that's it.

But with Poker, everyone else is your opponent, trying to beat you. With Blackjack, everyone else is on your side, trying to beat the Dealer. It's much less stressful. Oh, and Baccarat ... although I still haven't quite got the hang of that.
