During a break in the rain this evening I took my dog out for its walk. On the way back it started to rain again and I took a short cut through a street I wouldn't normally use. I saw an old man lying in his garden. He'd slipped and couldn't get up. I helped him back to his feet and into his house.
If it hadn't been for the dog he could have been lying in the cold and rain all night.
What can I get for Missy as a reward for her demanding to go for her walk?

I love a Happy ending :-)
Thats good to know Sandy - we were wondering. At least his daughter lives nearby, hope she comes to thank you - I know I would.
I bet he 'forgets' to tell his daughter about the incident
Great story - Missy will know that she has done well.....

Ann86, I'm not sure if he'll have told her. An adult child might just decide that he can't look after himself any more. It's not for me to interfere but I think he's better off in his own home rather than in a home.

Contrast with a dog we had. One wet day on a steep and greasy ridge on Snowdon a poor bloke was huddled in a gap, afraid to move. The dog used his head as a stepping stone which just about finished him. Luckily we were able to lead him to safety. The mutt got nothing.
