ford focus ....every time you take your foot of the brake pedal there seems to be a hammering/tapping noise coming from the engine any ideas please ..thank you

What engine exactly? Zetec? .. Zetec-S? High mileage?
Over-run noises are attributable to various things.

Static or driving?
Metallic or plastic sound? Have you listened to the non-return valve on the servo supply line?
