2 years ago I purchased a Tv and recorder from Comet at Rhyl and took out a five year service agreement. I had trouble with these items almost right away.
It was a lot of trouble getting them to come out to me as there service Depot
is in Manchester.
Now I have trouble once again. I phoned them on Wednesday and spent 50 minutes on the phone at 10p a miinute being given D.I.Y instructions on what to do. try this button try that button only to be told
it was the fault of the Humax recorder. I then removed the recorder but the TV was no better. I then had to phone back next day and go through it all again before they decided to send out an engineer. This cost me another 45 minutes at 10p a minute. They then said the earlliest day he could come would be Friday 23 Dec. So much for Insurance with Comet. Never again. How I long
for the old days when your local retailer would service it the same day/

I had a lot of trouble with a washing machine and they didn't want to come out. I had only used the machine for a month it was brand new and they said to put descaler in three times !! Never Never Never with I use Comet online again. Ever. Terrible customer service, they don't give a t@ss.
<will I use> sorry
I had the same problem with Comet some years ago.
We bought a Microwave with a built in oven.
I left it in the box for 5 weeks and we had a new kitchen fitted.
On first use , it burnt a whole in the microwave door and I had to unplug it quick and chuck a glass of water over it to put out the flame.
Comet then insisted they would not change it because it was more than a month old and would only repair it.
I told them it was the first time it was used and dangerous in my view....
After several phone calls and arguments , I told them I would come to the store with the microwave and take a new one from the shelf.
That would be theft sir , they told me.
In that case I said , call the police and they can meet at your store at 5pm , when I swap the microwave.
30 minutes later I got a call from Comet head office and they said they would either refund me or swap the microwave.

Never used Comet again ever - Guess many also don't and thus why the firm is bust ...well worth £2 :-)
Tell the company you are going to write to the TroubleShooter on the Financial pages of one of the weekend newspapers, like the Times. They will not welcome the bad publicity. Such problems are often very quickly resolved because the companies do not wish to look bad in the Press.
If you have put me off ever using Comet or their insurance ever again, imagine how many people might read such a letter in the Saturday times, and be put off, too.
Three times this year I've taken items back to Comet when they failed inside a year - a printer, a George Foreman and a deep fat fryer. Each time they just said "Leave it on the side and take another one" so I'd just walk out with a new item. I've been impressed.

In 2009 we bought a washing machine from a local private outlet. The machine has always leaked and we've alwasy had a towel down to soak up the water. The company came out three times and kept saying there was nothing wrong with it! I've now decided to throw the thing away and we've just bought a new Bosch machine from Comet on the basis that they would change it as happily as they did the other goods (I also took out a 3-year cover plan). I'm a bit worried now but Comet were fine before so I'm sure they would be again if we had problems.
