Battery Conditioners

Anyone got any experience of using battery conditioners to keep a battery in good nick whilst a vehicle is not in regular use (eg over winter).

I've been recommended the Optimate Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation for her BMW Z3 and she reckons that it also does bikes?

Thoughts welcomed from the usual suspects :)

Oh rats - that got scrambled ... this Optimate was recommended for my bike

Well looks more suitable for bikes than cars!

These conditioners are also known as "smart battery chargers". They are a lot more compact than the usual type and are worthwhile when a vehicle is unused for long periods. As Toureman has stated, they are available for less than £20 - Lidl had one recently for £15 approx.
