Forgive my musical intrusion please News aficionados, pottering around here i was taken by all the Well-wishing and"What I said, well, its in the past mate. All the best and...oooh come here yer big wally, give us a hug"!!
It made me smile when someone wrote,"Ooh you know the Christmas season is begun when AOG posts his Christmas Message !"!..from the list I had assumed him to be AB chief correspondent(I closed my eyes and could hear the clatter of shields cast onto a heap.Alas, that was bin lids, and parts of next doors shed blown in the gale)swords being sheathed.Goodwill expressed to all men.

Feeling..call it male intuition..made me look twice at an American ABer last night. He posted, lets say,a risque joke..When I read his past profile it did not chime in the least. An intelligent/interesting guy,Why the crude joke?Sadly at
4.39a.m. some things became clear. Those close to him had suffered grevious losses.I want what he wants ,for war in Afghanistan to be over..and hope for some lasting peace.I dedicate this solemnly,to that American ABer with sympathy.

This song is so deep for many now,and you can tell it was written by genius.

Very profound....
very appropriate on the day Obama pulls out of Iraq - a war is over because they wanted it. (Actually, Lennon wrote it about Vietnam, and that war ended too but only because the Americans lost.)
Let's hope that the book closing on the Iraq misadventure is not so they can start another one in Iran.
well said Mr Lennon (not the first time I've heard that! haha)
Ahem...

Thank you MarkRae,

Yes they both follow along to a simple folk melody.Sounds to me like it could come from the Deep South/Mississippi Delta,or even the Blue Grass of Kentucky.Or further back to Ireland or Scotland, then taken to USA.
