Handy hints
In the style of Viz and those women's weekly magazines, can anyone give me some money saving tips, because i'm really skint. Thankyou.

I am extremely frugule when it comes to spending money on non essential amenities & services like electricity, gas, water etc so hee are my tips to save those pennies. If you smoke stand outside a shopping mall or similar non smoking establishment and wait for people smoking, they always chuck away half lit ciggies or if you are really lucky a skunk filled reefer. Always fart in a bottle, its brilliant to fill your clipper lighter up with. If faced with high electricity prices the simple solution is to tap into your neighbours supply, the best way is through the loft but make sure they are on vacation first. Telephone charges are easy to overcome, just give friends & family your neighbours phone number, you will save a packet on line rental. Television licence..No Problem! just pop into the local pub with satellite TV, nick somebodys beer and stay until closing time. When pubs are shut the same thing can be done in the local Chinese Takeaway, look at the menu a couple of times & keep telling the staff that you are still trying to make up your mind. If you have an open fire then freeze dry your expulsions throughout the summer then stick em on the fire during winter, this will not only keep your tootsies warm but stop unwanted guests because the smell will not make you popular.

and yes, a whole five times, my other half is a real goer! We stopped though because we were finding that after each time, 9 months later a child appeared. Don't know what that was all about, maybe I should post a question int he science section: "please help, every time me and my husband...........9 months later........?)
you can save on heating by using a few hot water bottles, just when you're around the house, instead of having the heaters or fires turned right up.
and wear jumpers too. I have a fleece jumper with a large pouch type pocket in the front and i put the hot water bottle in there - so i can walk around still keeping warm
I also save all my 1, 2, and 5 pences and put them in a pot
i know they are considered cheesy but I use a soda stream with ordinary squash so never pay for cans of pop
I LOVE soda stream. I drink it plain a lot of the time as I love sparkling water. I had forgotten that as a money saver.....
Problem is though., you have the devil's own job at trying to find somewhere that does replacement canisters. Where do you get yours from, Joko? Are you in the UK.
Today my daughter was cold doing her school work in the music room and so we lit the log fire. She loved it and sat there all day and did loads of work all snuggly next to the open fire. Dead cheap as we got the logs free and I didn't need the heating on the rest of the house as we were all pretty active today and the other rooms are south facing. Perfect soln to puttin on the CH.

use your washing line like billy-o. I have a large family and I don't own a tumble dryer. 5 kids with 3 being under 5, one of them being under 1 it sounds like a nighmare, but it's actually fine.
I have a 50 foot rotary line in the garden. I live on the coast so we nearly always a breeze, mostly a gale this time of year. Also, I have an indoor washing line in my utility room and another one over the bath in the children's bathroom. This is useful for washing and also for towels. The kids hang them up there and it stops the banisters' varnish peeling from constantly having wet towels on it. Also, I'm quite partial to air dried things, makes them way easier to iron as when I did have a dryer, I ironed them anyway, b ut had the devil's own job trying to get creases out!
mimififi - i am in uk, though I have never had to buy one yet as i bought mine second hand and it came with 2 spares - haven't had it that long.

Cool, I shall once again be able to make carbonated Milk which my son loves....(yucky, I prefer carbonated elderflower, or just plain, or sometimes carbonated cold tea....that is surprisingly nice too!)
