TWR, I've always believed that, but I am sure there was a post last year which says this isn't true, you can't be sued if you clear the pavement outside your house. I'll try to find it.
Here's the thread - although I'm not so sure, now! http://www.theanswerb...w/Question848987.html
Apart from a couple of youngsters (mid 50's) who've managed to sneak in, Trish is the youngest person in the twelve houses at our end of the street and we all keep an eye out for each other. Last year for instance we all started out clearing our own drives and four hours later we'd done our drives, the road and the pavement from the main road across the frontage of our houses, couple of the ladies disappeared for a while and reappeared bearing hot bacon cobs and coffee, and Trish fetched out a bottle of whisk(e)y to spice up the coffee and we had a bit of a street party. We weren't to popular with the kids at the top of the hill however as their sledge run suddenly ran out of snow half way down.
The pavements are really bad outside. If u have got elderly neighbours. Give them a knock and ask them to go the shop for you. Don't go yourself. It's dangerous.
I'm a bit of a crock myself and greatly appreciate my neighbours thinking of me. Peter next door cleared my path for me when it snowed last year and if they don't see me out and about on my mobility scooter for a few days, they've been inclined to check on me.
I do still have my independence but am not averse to a bit of "fussing" so if anyone is giving away a few mincepies or Thornton's choccies, I can always help you out there.

What I do as a norm Boxy is get a few bags of Rock Salt & put that down after clearing her's & our paths, regards getting sued, I'm positive I have read this claim somewhere.
I think so too TWR, but IMO it still doesn't absolve people's sense of taking care themselves - people are too quick to try to find someone else to blame these days.
We keep an eye on the old boy next door. He's 83 and we think the world of him and vice versa. A few times he has woken up not feeling well and we have taken him to hospital in the middle of the night, rather do that than have him worry about being alone and not feeling well.

He always comes round at New Year for dinner but this year he may come for Christmas too! His daughter only wanted him to visit for a few days but he said to visit so far away it wasn't worth it so wanted to stay a couple of extra days but she said no! If he doesn't go see his friend he is coming here for the day :o)
Nice one Boo;)
I did have an answer but now I'm laughing too much at B00...hahaha

Actually you never see some of the oldies around here UNTIL it snows and they're off to the shops in their green woolly coats and ankle boots...I reckon they like a challenge.
Except for a lady downstairs who must be in her late 70's,I must be the next oldest at 64 in a building of 16 flats. But I'm always out and about-and not in " green woolly coats and ankle boots" just yet...lol
I tend to look out for my next door neighbour as he has emphysema-and I often hear the poor man hacking away.

That link was such a poignant tale-there but for fortune for many of us who are on our own....made me want to know more.
