LOL..... DT

Yep, thats me...King Yogi Canute......"seated on his throne on the seashore, waves lapping round his feet"............ermmmm, talking of thrones, I knew that light curry was a mistake.......please excuse me for a bit :0)

Where's the snoozepaper at? :0)
Yogi: you must remember the south coast stretches a long way, from east to west.
Sorry, have I missed something? Is it a storm everywhere or just a particular bit?
where is everyone, that schools are closed?
That yellow warning is for ice, not high winds, Annie!

Oh, hang on, I see where the difference arises. The BBC website quotes mean wind speeds whereas it's the gusts that look set to cause some problems tomorrow:

I think it's Renfrewshire and Stirling District that have closed all schools tomorrow Boxy. There may be other areas that decide to close too.
Question Author
boxy - stirlingshire - think Ayrshire are closed too and clackmannan and Glasgow deferring their decision until tomorrow - not sure about the rest.
I'm West Dunbartonshire - they're deferring till morning.
Sherr:
The map here shows tomorrow's wind speeds for the whole country. (The circled figures are mean speeds. The red boxes show gusts). You can click on the little boxes under 'Thursday' to see how things will progress over 3-hourly intervals:

That picture is very good - no room for doubt with that. Hope you avoid the worst of it.
As a person that has a keen interest in wind, this is better than the met office for wind forecasts IMO...

Are there many of you, outside the yachting fraternity?
Hi Carlton,

Good to see you on, sir....:0)

I'm in the Brighton area specifically, but I do travel all over the southern parts of East and West Sussex and along the coast on occasion, so look at the forecasts regularly....the gusts can be quite strong indeed......we have an area on the A27 at Shoreham-by-sea flyover, near the airport, that, if it is really windy, is treacherous to drive along, as the gusts can easily take you, so you really have to take the wheel firmly when passing .......and guess what?..... I'm there tommorrow as off west to Chichester, but we are just getting 'strong winds' warning.....not sure what i'll get till the morning forecast and when I pass there about 11.00am.

Be careful, guys if out in the bad area's going to be hit. :0)
"Are there many of you, outside the yachting fraternity?"

I guess strictly speaking I'm in the yachting fraternity, I have a class8 land yacht.
ah, good idea, the seas are choppy this time of year.
Jno - there's always the Sprout fraternity :)
