/// Police are believed to have consulted a lip reader over the words allegedly used by Terry in the video clips posted on the internet.///

Is there no lengths the police won't go to, to get their man?

Good for them......ensuring that all avenues are explored.

If he didn't say it, he has nothing to fear.
is this something new then?

Probably because the burglars weren't filmed....
I am no lip reader, but I saw the Terry clip before the FA got it pulled off of YouTube. I am no lip reader, but it was pretty clear what he mouthed.

He is a disgrace, and deserves a lengthy ban.

Not sure if the double negative was a mistake, or trying to be clever and failing.
I only briefly saw a clip and my recollection is that 'that' showed him saying something along the lines of, "Oi! Anton! I didn't call you a ....... ..... ....!"

Quite what had proceeded that, I really have no idea.
Jackthehat,

That is incorrect. The "I didn't call you..." part is Terry's invention. The TV clip which started off this story when deaf people posted it on YouTube did not have show him saying the first part.

Unless he can find witnesses that heard him say the first part, then he appears guilty.
Fair enough, Gromit.
I saw it briefly, and he certainly appeared to say something before 'those three words'. I would have welcomed the opportunity to have had another look.

But, as I said, if the didn't say it, or said it but in the way that he claims.....he ought to have nothing to fear.
What difference does it make?

These mush for brains, over paid footballers can get away with pretty much anything. I'm willing to bet his money and 'star status' will make it all just simply go away.

Nothing wrong with that double negative - it's perfectly correct (though the "is" is not!).

"this is turning into thought control"

Not really. Anyone can think what they like...he's not in trouble for *thinking* - he's being investigated for *saying* (allegedly).
I thought the police were meant to get proof! Isn't that part of their job?
rojash, surely it should be "are there *any* lengths the police won't go to"?

Not getting at you, aog, just trying to sort this one out in my own mind.
Terry's family are proper criminals, they've caught most of them!

jno, Yes I knew after I had pushed the submit button I had made a mistake, but I was about to go out, so I didn't have time to correct it, but I knew by the time I got back, the 'Head' would had spotted it.

I promise to stand in the corner until playtime.
...do you mean would "have" spotted it?
You have all been groomed by the media into believing that a simple insult is the crime of the century and warrants dozens of lawyers, tv programmes and newspapers making vast sums of money as a result.

Maybe some of you should watch the comedy Love Thy Neighbour. A popular British 70's sitcom which ran for 7 series and where 'insults' were aimed between both black and white characters. We watched the show, laughed and got on with life.

This country has turned into a bunch of cry babies.
Love Thy Neighbour was brilliant and so was Alf Garnet in his series, pity about all the PC crap!
He might have said something in the heat of the moment, but lets get off the lads back
