You are invited to a social event by a good friend and accept the invitation. More details of the event emerge which mean you really do not want to go but explaining this to your friend could potentially hurt their feelings. What do you do?

It's all being arranged on Facebook JTH, have been messaging her on there but on the 'event' page I have seen one of the girls who is stopping over saying she doesn't mind sleeping on the sofa with one of the boys; it makes it even more difficult that out of all the people who will be there I only know the girl whose party it is!
Question Author
Lol snags! Don't think so; it's just a flat; that would be preferable to her suggestion though!

Thanks for all the advice by the way everyone!

Have had a think and this is the message I've come up with to send my friend, any thoughts would be appreciated!
Hey again! I don't really feel comfortable about sleeping in the same room as blokes I don't know to be honest and don't think (boyfriend's name) would be too happy about it either; I wouldn't if it was the other way round! Also; (boyfriend's name) only has a couple of days off over Xmas and New Year and that is one of them so could really do with seeing him so really sorry but gonna have to give it a miss but will definitely come down in the New Year! x

Sounds good to me.

Thank you! Will go with that then!
Dont you just love a happy ending :0)
sorry, but I would just say ' no thank youi, have looked at the event, and it's not for me!.....' I would n't feel bad about saying that to a friend, they would already know that it wouldn't be for me anyway!........
Apart from that it's a long drive to get there to find that you are lumbered with the same situation after all. Do you know the rest of the partygoers?
You're right, welsh......that was mentioned to sophie earlier.

Looks like the best thing to do is what she last said, but her friend should really understand the situation, if she is a TRUE friend nonetheless.
Question Author
Thanks all; will send that message tomorrow and let you know what she says!
I'd go but wear really big knickers...................

Question Author
