Just trying the gauge my usage, tried usage calculators and they were useless. BT's good deals are for 10gb monthly usage I don't think this is enough and I need 40gb.

I use 5 hours internet a day on two laptops same time
- which is general emails, surfing
- lots youtube

ps3 online 5 hours max a day, with software updates too

BBC iplayer 30mins a day

No music/movie downloading

If anyone wants to know there overall usage the first place to check is your ISPs web pages, most of them have a facility that will let you know how much you've used and it's a far more reliable indication of usage than any software installed on a single computer.
Yes but does Bitmeter measure your total usage or just on the pc that it is running on? The question author is using three separate machines....
didn't see previous post.....
Wow an unlimited claim that isn't a lie ! May go out for a pint to celebrate the "New Honesty" policy. (Difficult to believe it would be BT though, I'll probably wake up and find it is all a dream in a moment.)
I wouldn't have a clue what my usage is...or if there's a limit.
I hit 82Gb once .. and was threatened by Orange : )
Usually around 40 tho .. tho I am heavy user.
Just browsing around and emailing about doesn't need anything like this.
Downloading at full bandwidth or streaming from various sites are what mount it up.
10Gb is not enough for you .. or rather .. it's borderline.

it looks like 40gb then but I can't help but wonder if to get the unlimited just in case but it could just be a waste of money if i potentially don't use over 40gb.

I wonder if I can take the 40gb and upgrade later rather than incur the '£5 per 5gb over fee' which is not cost effective.

Anyone have any views on BT broadband v's Sky broadband? I've been with Sky for the last year without any trouble?
Even 5Gb is a lot to some people.
I don't think you need it. You can always use a monitor .. or check your usage, and then upgrade again.

well we play a lot of online games, watch iplayer and use youtube I also have my own website to maintain but that is a fairly basic site.

I think it's going to have to be 40gb then
Plusnet have a home page which will display your usage as you go. Nowt like having it from the horse's mouth, I changed to Plusnet when they started and have not had any problems, They are quite reasonable in their charges
Tried looking on the Orange website for a broadband usage summary but unsuccessfully. Is there one on there does anyone know? Also noticed that a lot of ads for Orange state unlimited usage for all their offerings. Is this true as it seems too good to be true...?
Well it's truly unlimited with BT so assume it is with Orange.........
Dash. Looked it up and got beaten to the punch by Chuck.
Yes surprise for me again. Maybe they are all getting a change of heart.
Yes its good they are becoming more reasonable on usage. With the proliferation of such services such as Iplayer, ITVplayer etc these limits were become increasingly outdated....
