Just trying the gauge my usage, tried usage calculators and they were useless. BT's good deals are for 10gb monthly usage I don't think this is enough and I need 40gb.

I use 5 hours internet a day on two laptops same time
- which is general emails, surfing
- lots youtube

ps3 online 5 hours max a day, with software updates too

BBC iplayer 30mins a day

My BT deal includes unlimited downloads...............
Question Author
yeah that's currently £28 a month not including the line rental which starts £10 if you pay for a year in advance.
I pay £31.60 a month and for that I get up to 8M broadband with unlimited downloads, my line rental, and all my calls (except to mobiles, premium rate numbers, and internationals)

how log you been on that deal then? is it a new one?
Signed up for it in September.

'long'

right might have a 'word' with them tomorrow then as £38 is a bit steep for the same as you get for £31
The deal only lasts 12 months then I'll have to ring them back and renegotiate.
Mine was more than £38 so I told them I was going to Virgin. They also tried to flog me BT Vision for an extra £4.

so it's only a 12 month contract? or its the standard 18 month but the price changes (goes up) after 12 months unless you call them, like when you go with the same insurance company year on year....it always gets more expensive every year because you don't negotiate
I was told it was a 12 month contract, my last deal was also a 12 month contract. The trouble is if you don't remember to ring them when your contract is ending they just shove you onto a higher rate. I know I have to ring them next August to sort it out.
Craft, is your TV inc in that PRICE?
unlimited downloads usually include a fair use policy

Yes and car tax and petrol for a month:-)
I have no idea what limit I have. Never seemed to be an issue (although I've loads of other issues with BT). There again I rarely play film/video. Just normal surfing for a few hours a day at forums or window shopping, less if I am into a game on the PC that captures my attention instead.
When you say 'unlimited' is that 'unlimited' up to a limit of the "fair use" policy, or truly unlimited ?
BT abolished their "fair usage rate" for downloads in April this year, the unlimited deals are truly unlimited now.

Most other ISPs that advertise unlimited have a fair usage policy of about 40GB, I get 60GB with plusnet and I would class myself as a heavy user and I've only exceeded the 60GB a couple of times. For most people 40GB would be more than enough.
I currently have a 10gb limit but I need to up it as they keep charging me for going over it. My Dad watches alot of stuff on the BT Catch up service we have and that's what kills it. If you're watching iPlayer that much then I think your 10gb will run out fairly quickly.
If anyone needs to know their exact GB usage then google for "Bitmeter" and download it.
It records your upload and download usage for daily, weekly and monthly.
Nice little FREE program.
