If you buy something on e-bay and when it arrives it's not suitable, can you return it?

missprim - I did read your post properly. It makes no difference whether you buy with a bid on an auction or "Buy It Now", the same EBay procedures, and the term "bid", apply to both. As another example, you will have received an email confirming that you "won" the item, which is also a universal term not normally associated with buying from Argos.
Please accept all this advice in the spirit in which it is offered. You asked for help and that is what is being offered.
No - if its clothes and they don't fit and the seller states No Returns you are left with the goods to sell yourself on Ebay or put in a charity bag. As they are usually much cheaper than buying in shops you have to think "Ah well, you win some, you lose some"
missprim, yes the rules are different. They advertise what they are sellling. They tell you exactly what they are offering for sale. They tell you how big it is (ie dress size 14 or this wardrobe is 3 foot wide x 6 foot high). If you are in any doubt as to whether it will fit, or have ANY other questions, then BEFORE bidding/or buying (on a "buy it now") ASK, and if in doubt, don't bid.

Thanks for your answers. Perhaps I'm worrying over nothing, perhaps all will be fine.

Distance selling regulations don't apply to private sellers (and just because it was a 'buy it now' rather than an auction, doesn't mean it's not a private seller) so be pleasant, speak/email the seller and explain - it will be a whole lot easier before they've gone to the trouble of packing and posting etc. I bought an outfit for a wedding off ebay and the seller couldn't have been more helpful with exact measurements for waist/hips/bust etc.
Let's hope whatever it was fits, and that you manage to exchange good feedback with each other. If you ever have another question regarding ebay, it would help if you give us a rough idea of what the item is that we are talking about. You don't have to go into your personal details.

As in "it might not fit" what???? Thimble? Dress? Shoes? Car in the garage?
Wardrobe through a front door?

The more information you give us, the better the help.
We were all newbies on ebay at first, let us help you with our experiences.
