Having trouble with this one from an old puzzle:

A nut's what might be said to be under the bed (5) PECAN.

Is this a homophone? If so, of what? I'm from across the pond so I have trouble sometimes with homophone clues.

pee can ...gazunder
People used to keep chamber pots under their beds in the days before plumbed toilets - to urinate is to Pee - container = can, Peecan = Pecan.
Gazunder called so, because it gazunder the bed.
