I appreciate what day it is and that we didn't get involved in Vietnam, but I thought it was worth reminding ourselves for a couple of minutes that there have been many, many pointless wars.

Another reason, of course, is that it's good to remember that there was once a time when we didn't follow the Americans blindly into battle...
