if you've sent a request for a friend to join you on facebook and, before they have a chance to reply, you want to retract that request, how do you do that?

I know nothing about facebook but it sounds like a minefield! Why between requesting and their acceptance do you not want them. Maybe they will reject you too!
If you go onto the person's page, you will see at the top a box that says "Friend request sent" (if they haven't accepted yet). If you hover over this box, it will pop up a menu that lets you cancel the request.
yeah, aquariel is right
well you learn a little everyday... I didnt know you could do that!!!
Glad to know that bit of info Aqua

Aquariel, do the people whose request you're cancelling get notified of your cancellation (I hope not) or are they simply left to notice in their own time that the request no longer stands?
they do not get notified, they dont realise until they see youre not on the friend list.
Question Author
does a person on facebook have a list somewhere of the people they've put out friends requests to that haven't yet been accepted and, if so, how do you find that list?
I've had a look, but there doesn't seem to be such a list, unfortunately. I'm sure they used to show up in your list of friends, but that isn't the case now either.
