Plasma
Latest generation LED up to around 43"
Good brand Plasma over 43"
LCD below 43"

That's my opinion .. in order or preference. I have a plasma .. a very good one. I have yet to see any LCD touch it on HD clarity and colour.
I have a few friends with LG 40 and 43" and picture on HD dreadful .. quite smeary.
I've got a Teco (cheap make) 40" LCD - had it for 3 or 4 years - the picture on HD is excellent!

A pal of mine had a Samsung 40" Plasma - picture was very dark and tv only lasted a couple of years (and cost 4 times what mine did!)
I've got a 50" Samsung plasma in the lounge which I thought had a good picture... until I got a 42" LG LCD for the bedroom, which has an amazing picture... especially in HD. I couldn't believe the difference. The bigger plasma now looks quite dark in picture, and nowhere near as sharp. I wish I'd gone for LCD first time round, now.
I bought a 40" Samsung LCD after asking on here and it's amazing quality. Picture, sound, just everthing about it is sharp and clear. Best TV i've ever owned.

This is the question I asked... http://www.theanswerb...y/Question958697.html

Chris put up a link for a really good comparison site so you can have a look for yourself :)
Hey Erin :)
Yeah, I should have mentioned that too. The sound is much better on the LCD, too. Oh, and it doesn't chuck out heat like a large plasma does.
Hi :) lol.. the heat thing was what convinced me to go for an LCD.. it just scared me a little =s
Lol. Seriously, when we first got it, we couldn't believe how hot the room was! Ridiculous.
Whatever you choose, get one which has internet connectivity (wired or wifi) so that you can watch iPlayer, 4OD etc on your main TV rather than laptop/PC.
I quite like those, Dave... although I do usually have my lappy on my lap when the TV's on, and like to do two things at once.
It is very handy for iplayer and OD though, as you say.
there's only plasma or lcd !!
led's are the lighting technology that lcd screens use so you can see the picture otherwise its a series of fluorescent tubes behind the screen.
most tv now are lcd,
