so difficult. I understand how busy they are, but i wish they would answer the phones for one thing, another frustrating 20 minute wait, and still can't book an appointment until the day. Is your GP surgery the same.

I ring my surgery, I get an appointment. Not necessarily the same day but within a few days. Luckily not needed an emergency appointment.
Same for me too em10, if Ive had a sleepless night I'm half dead to get up early to phone the doc at 8am for an appointment, but it's usually a long wait to get through if you are lucky to get one. You can't book a week in advance and you never get to see the same doc twice. Telephone consultations are with the practice nurse, but she sometimes has to consult a doctor while you hold on. Not good, although they have extended their hours and Saturday am. Annoys me when you see appointments that have been missed by people too slack to ring and cancel.
You can book appointments online at our local surgery.

Perhaps some other surgeries need to come into the 21st century?
For me! The "rottweillers" who answer d phone- ie the receptionists who guard the doc hahaha thank GOD for open surgery 3x a wk x
some surgeries nearby do that too Chris, sadly ours don't, you have to phone at 8.30 and wait and hope to get an appiontment!....I avoid it like the plague!...........
If I require an appointment I too have to phone at 8am and like ladyalex I have been suprised to note just how empty the waiting area is in a large practice.
