That's why I put it on here Helen! there are a lot of sensible people on here? well I think there is, we shall find out eh.
much of it needs reforming, some of the judges should be put out to pasture. And if the government says get tough on knife, gun crime, then it should, not spout platitudes.
I assume you mean the criminal justice system?
too
Increasing the minimum sentences (and applying them) instead of the maximum sentences would be a good starting point.
It is remarkable that when crime and/or justice is discussed, the kneejerk reaction is "bang them up" To me this is not the answer, as the monies spent on keeping a person in prison is orrendious. I think it will take a very clever person to answer this question(soloman?)
I think it is flawed - seriously so in some areas, but the fundamental precepts are sound, and we should strive to improve the faulty areas, and aim for genuine justice for all - the hallmark of a civilised society is its laws, so they need to be up to the job, as do the people who make and enforce them.
