How long does it take vet flea treatments to work? My cat had some this evening and she's being driven to distraction with scratching and grooming at the moment.

What have you used on her?

Advocate
Advocate's good, use it on mine. I reckon she should start to get some relief tomorrow but you must treat your home as well Prudie with R.I.P.
The Advocate will work very quickly but, just the same as for humans, the flea bites will carry on itching for several days.

Thanks guys, I feel so sorry for her, she seems far worse than before we went to the vets, Is RIP from the vets only, I haven't heard of it?
I use Frontline - in my experience (following a recent infestation) it gets worse before it gets better. As the fleas die it seems to send the cats nuts. I think it took 48 hours before I stopped seeing them scratching and running round like total nutjobs.

That's made me feel better Barmaid, she is quite demented, flying around the place, constantly biting and scratching, twitching. Won't settle and jumping onto places she never normally goes - on the kitchen counter, the coffee table, oh yes and has just run across my keyboard.
Yes Prudie, you will have fleas and eggs all over the place I'm afraid and will need to bomb the place a few times or fleas will just hop back on your cat. R.I.P. is very good and I got mine from my vet. Don't be tempted to get some cheap stuff from the supermarket if you want the job done quickly and properly.
You can get RIP on-line-try Amazon-for a lot less. Indorex is good also...and cheaper than RIP.
