Hi,
I have been with pipex for several years for broadband and phone, now that talktalk has taken them over the internet speed has dropped from 1.8mb to 700kbs. I have been online and typed in pipex.co.uk, but it appears that talktalk business has taken over, and is asking how many staff I have. well, there's me, and me, and thats about it. anyone else having a problem? do I need to change isp's?

I was with Toucan then it was taken over by pipex & now u guessed it.
but not sure about drop in speed
Talk Talk have now achieved all time lowest satisfaction from customers.
They are obviously greedy too .. this drop in bandwidth can only really be down to throttling .. contention ratio.
Get another ISP.
I'd change, wos. I was with Demon before they were taken over by Pipex, and you are right, they were very business oriented - they didn't want personal customers. We moved to BT and I'm very happy with them.

Thanks chaps,
I have just gone on-line and signed up with BT. I am a self employed telephone engineer and see problems with different providers all day, and really BT or the post office
( their call centres are in Ireland, so they speak our language, almost) are by far the best. The Irish boys actually phone the customer next day and ask if everything is working O.K. now. You don't get this from AOL or pipex or any of the others. I have high regard for the Iriish lads, they will actually take over remotely and re-set the computer and load help pages etc. Most of the other ISP's seem to think the problem is with the customer. mind you, if your ISP has to call BT to check the line they have to pay £90. to BT. don't want to keep on about this, but if your phone line is with BT and you call them out on a fault, and the fault is inside your ptoperty, they will charge you £130.
My speed has dropped in the past 12 days to 0.69 from 2.4. Not sure why, nor the best way to pursue it!
