loads of sparrows in Borth and Ynyslas and jackdaws flocking like starlings...
The kites were by far the best bit though but there were loads of them all round the Aberystwyth/Clarach/Borth area... didn't see so many round Devils bridge but the weather really was awful... The new sea defence works seemed popular with wagtails though grey and pied
Not now red, been re-introduced all over the place.

Sad about the sparrows trim, I rarely see them here.

Lovely vid rowan.
we see loads of red kites here in west berks , one morning v early one took off at head height in front of my car and flew infront for about 2 mins till it got clear of the trees. It was wonderfull

Well lucky you redman as you've got a real treat to come.
Not seen as many Kites here in the southdowns as last year, maybe they'll be back for winter, hope so :(
red kites thriving in co.durham and northumberland since recent reintroduction
There was a feature in our local paper this week bemoaning the decline in lapwings on the Marsh - a great sham.
We have a huge number here in the Chilterns since they were re-introduced a few years ago. There are so many in the countryside that pairs now have territories in the town. We usually see our local pair when we look out the window or are outside. If we are sitting in the garden one or more often cruise or hover overhead looking down and they are so close we can see their eyes. When I go for my walk every day through the local countryside and Stoke Mandeville village I see the pairs that occupy the various territories along the route. Last year I watched 8 red kites catching small animals behind a tractor baling hay and a couple of weeks ago we counted 18 wheeling together over the town of Princes Risborough. Many are family groups of youngsters still learning from their parents. There are so many more soaring above the chalk downlands of the Chiltern Hills too.

They are magnificent birds.
