could 'rambler has no food in to cook' be an anagram of a place as its the same number of letters?
It seems a very long place name. Are the other answers places that everyone has heard of? Its not going to be somewhere very random that you would've only heard of if you'd been there?
That one has been asked about several times and nobody seems to know.
These are the only 24-letter places I can find

Llansantffraed-Cwmdeuddwr
Northmoor Green or Moorland
Preston upon the Weald Moors
Taobh a'Deas Loch Baghasdail
Wiggenhall St Mary Magdalen

Good thinking slimseeker will try to work it out thanks for your help.

Thanks scotman you've done well I haven't found any of that length, of to try the anagram idea.
Birdie, does the "/" have any relevance? Does it appear in other clues and if so could we have an example of a clue and answer you already have please. I'm really getting into this!
It has been suggested that the cricketer might be Illingworth because the word demented might suggest that, and his name has 11 letters, but then nobody can find the 2,4,4,3 bit of the clue, unless its an anagram, and the rambler connection is also throwing everyone.Don't know if thats any help to you Sumo. all the other clues seem to have been solvable with the use of a bit of guessing, and a detailed Atlas, but not this one!
has anyone gone back to the author of the quiz to make sure this is correct both clue wise and number of letters in place wise?
Yes, but so far nobody has answered.
I wondered about Botham - as he was both a rambler and cricketer - but it didn't get me anywhere. but that doesn't mean it'snot relevant - just me!

Thanks to everyone for all the interest shown on this question its a real teaser, I would still love to know if anyone has found an answer not to give it away but just to confirm that indeed there is one.
It would also be helpful if the setter would confirm this so that we waste no more time if it is incorrect.
Collingwood also has 11 letters & I can think of other cricketers over the years with 11-letter surnames.

Thanks DSJ for your interest I wondered (in the middle of the night) if it was in fact Whittington itself followed by 4 words which refer to the clue but no luck on that. It's a real headache, I still hope that someone will be kind enough to tell us if there is answer not give it to us but just to confirm we are not wasting our time.
