Gosh. Had he been ill? I thought he was about my age
I remember Lilley Ct Willey bowled Dilley (or was it the other way round?)
He had cancer, and was only 52, how terribly sad
All it says is he died, aged 52,after a short illness.
Thanks lesblue, I'd missed this news.

Indeed a sad loss. All my best wishes to his family & friends.

A very young age to Pass over, my condolences and best wishes to his family.
Awful news. We always tried to imitate his bowling action on the school fields without any joy. RIP.

Was this ever said on TMS; "The bowlers holding the Batsman's Willey." Or is it an urban myth?
RIP to Graham Dilley.

"The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey" - Brian Johnston, I'm pretty sure.

"Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the Cambridge president is kissing the cox of the Oxford crew" - Harry Carpenter.
Thank you Steve & jno. The one gaff I remember is when Ken Wolsenholme was commentating on the Portugal v N Korea match in the 1966 world cup.Portugal were 3-0 down when their opponents scored again.
Wolstenholme shrieked.."It's another for Korea".....(Say it quickly.)
