Hi,
I've got a doctors appointment this afternoon, but I was just wondering, do you think it's ok to discuss more than one "problem", or will he think I'm crazy/wasting his time?

I rarely go to the docs, but it's now got to the point where I have five "issues" I need to ask him about... all potentially serious (not a cough/cold type thing).

I did mention to receptionist, when I phoned, that I had a few things I wanted to speak with him about, but she just informed me that "emergency appointments" (it's all I could get!) were for ten minutes only.

Do you think I should just ask him about the most important "issue" and then make another appointment later in the week... and so on, until I'm done?

I know this sounds a bit strange, but I just want to know what other people would do. Thanks.

same as us, except when you phone a few mins after lines open they are fully booked :(
same as us flip, I had a letter recently about a blood test, asking me to make an appointment as soon as possible, when I phoned the surgery they did not class the letter as grounds for an appointment outside of their alloted daily handfuls of appointments that go within the first few minutes.
I haven't been to see the doctor in years....

Last time I took my daughter, the doctor hadn't seen her for 7 years.

Healthy bunch, us lot :-)
the irish are a hardy bunch ;)
Most of my accidents end up in casualty :-)

It's been about a year since I've been.....doing well ...

Same cazz. The line was engaged for ages. Obviously with people with genuine emergencies.
I don't the "emergency" bit. I class emergencies as things like a broken limb, choking, heart attack. Surely if it was an emergency, you wouldn't be ringing your GP?

Back from the doctors.
Got there at 1.50, appt was 2 o'clock. My Dr had been called out on an emergency, so I was seeing someone else.
In he strolls at quarter past two, munching on a sandwich, oblivious to the waiting room full of patients.
Finally calls me in at 2.25, and I'm literally in there for two minutes!

Told him my "problems", he rubbishes them all. Tell him I think I have diabetes, he says "not likely". Tell him I think I have arthritis, he says "not likely".

Oh, and he told me I "could do with losing a couple of pounds"!!!

Couldn't be arsed to ask him anything else.

He did give me a prescription for my creaky knees/ankles, so he wasn't completely useless... just a bit.
Flip, just read through your tale, and can see why some people don't like to bother the doctor, i would have told him off.
I think you must go to the same Dr's at me!! It's upsetting isnt it?
at my surgery, we are only allowed to discuss one problem at a time. we can book a double appointment if we want

em, yep. That's exactly why I don't go!

Yelenots, Yes, it was rather upsetting. I left there feeling like I'd totally wasted his time... not to mention fat! :P

Kaymac, I did mention when I go there, to the receptionist, that I had a few things to discuss. She just said he'd give me as much time as possible... which obviously wasn't very long.
Dreadful behaviour. How does s/he know if you have diabetes or arthirtis without conductind even a blood test?!!!

Ask for a second opinion, No, in fact Demand one.
Grandaughter hurt her foot. Hospital xrayed and said too swollen to diagnose. Supplied elastic bandage, crutches and said come back 6 days later. At next appointment consultant said no break (same xray) suggested physio in the future. (60 seconds of consultation) No painkillers. Hands raw from crutches. Still waiting for physio appointment. Caring sharing NHS.
