why when they cut the sink section out you can't keep it? Is this just when I order the granite through Magnet kitchens or do all granite fitters do the same I am considering carrying the granite through to the utility room as the downstairs loo is through there people will see it a lot, if it was tucked away would have laminate. But its only a medium to small stretch but i am putting a sink with right drainer so most of the slab we be cut out, yet I am paying for a full slab? I have looked at geting a recessed sink and add drainage runs in the granite to take full advantage of the granite put it costs about double and is less practical for hand washing soaking clothes, washing pet food things?

Any thoughts?

perhaps to make the internal cutout they have to have a lead in cut within the block thats being removed?

another possibility is that they may sell the offcuts elsewhere for chopping boards etc
Red's probably right Mrs What. It's probably unusable. I think it would be very small as well........... without any straight and polished edges. Best to buy an off-cut.

For draining board............. you know about the grooves cut into the granite.........
A possibility ........... a few years ago when Belfast "Butler" sinks were the big thing, I bought a matching draining board (same manufacturer, same material) and sat it on the worktop so that it drained into the sink.
It had a lip around the edge so that you could dump wet clothes etc without water getting onto the worktop.
Could do something like that in granite, but I bet it would cost though. :o)
if you want to use he sink for wahing and washing up bowls why not get a steel sink with drainer and set it in granite
